September 12th, 2010. That’s right, Yvette hosts a full day intensive workshop with legendary jazz vocalist, Sheila Jordan.
Learn from the most passionate teacher of traditional vocal jazz on the planet about everything from repertoire choices to lyric delivery, preparing lead sheets, leading a band, stage presence and more. This dynamo diva shows no signs of slowing after almost 7 decades of performing. Yvette says, “spending a day soaking up Sheila Jordan’s infectious love for the music will leave you feeling inspired for months, and years to come. She’s The Zen Master of teaching jazz vocals.”

Jazz legend, Sheila Jordan joins JUNO Nominee, Yvette, as they grace the stage at Hugh’s Room for an unforgettable night that celebrates traditional jazz.

Yvette received a composition grant from the Ontario Arts Council's Popular Music Program. The OAC's generous support will assist in the creation of new material for Yvette's next CD.

July 2nd, 2010 - 5 PM The Downtown Toronto Jazz Festival has invited Yvette to headline on their Primus stage at Nathan Philips Square. Find your way down to City Hall for this free Friday afternoon concert!
BANFF COMPOSING RESIDENCY
Yvette is thrilled to be spending 3 weeks this summer at the beautiful Banff Centre. Her composing residency at the Leighton Artists' Colony will bring her Chalmers Arts Fellowship to a close. This incredible year long journey will have seen Yvette studying Hungarian Folk songs in Toronto and Hungary, translating a dozen of Hungarian poet, Jozsef Tollar's works into english and the creation of a new collection of songs to accompany the poems. Yvette says, "It has been one of the most important and fulfilling projects of my life thus far and I want to offer my most sincere thanks to the Chalmers family for their amazing generosity and their continued love of and support for the arts."
